New Group Leaders
Thank you for your interest in leading CEO Focus local peer groups. Becoming a leader of business leaders is a rewarding and enjoyable job
for those well-suited. In order to help you determine if we might have a mutual fit, we have included quite a bit of information below.
We look forward to speaking soon.
Why clients need it
If you have been a business owner or worked with them, the video below should resonate. When you own a small business, there is the
constant and overwhelming force to pull you into working IN the business instead of do the strategic.
Peer groups are the antidote to this problem. Plugging into a peer group provides a business owner a:
- A high-quality and trusted sounding board
- A method to garner best practices instead of learning from the School of Hard Knocks
- A consistent process to stay strategic
- Accountability mechanism
Benefits of the position
Wake up with purpose
Our group leaders get to work with dozens of local business owners on their most important decisions. Many of them compare leading a CEO
group to being a grandparent. You get to enjoy the kids but the tough parenting is left to Mom and Dad.
In our world, that translates to working on the big issues and opportunities. We get to work on strategic decisions all day and like a grandparent, when the kids get fussy and it’s time for bed, we get to leave. That’s not to say we leave our business owners hanging out to dry – it’s just
not our job to implement.
If you enjoy working with a variety of people, industries, and business issues, leading a CEO group can energize and reward you in ways you cannot yet imagine.
You’re an expert and deserve to be paid as one
Many of our leaders have been highly successful business owners and executives. They are not in the peer group business just for the
money; they love what they do. However, they do appreciate the relationship between excellent pay and self-esteem.
You can help lots of business owners by volunteering at SCORE or charging $50 an hour, but it’s hard to feel like an expert when you are
not paid like one. Our leaders enjoy an excellent wage and the esteem that goes with it.
Improve lives through business
If you have been around business owners for five minutes, you understand that an owner cannot escape their business – it affects all
relationships and aspects of their life. Sure, our group’s leaders have made countless millions of dollars for our members, but they have also saved
marriages, mended strained relationships, improved health, and improved the lives of our CEO members and those they touch.
How we do it
Membership Process
- Membership runs $595-$795 depending upon the market
- Membership tenures tend to run years, not months. Keep in mind that the benefits garnered from a peer group simply cannot be met any other reasonable way for business owners. Once a business owner sees what she has been missing, they tend to stay.
- The member meets with the group leader monthly for a 90 minute One-to-One and a ½ day group mastermind session
Initial Marketing Process
- Group leaders can choose from three launch methodologies. Most choose a large public event where we get 100 business owners in the room (our record is 335). We then deliver a presentation that is highly educational but also stirs the desire to join a peer group. A significant percentage of the audience will take a follow up meeting. At this meeting the group leader enrolls the members that fit the group.
- For initial launch events, Jim Muehlhausen delivers the presentation. He has authored two best-selling business books and has delivered this presentation to over 30,000 business owners.
- To launch our groups we use 19 different marketing methodologies, some of them proprietary to get the 100+ business owners in the room. It’s the mix of methodologies that’s the secret, not some magic flier or telemarketing trick.
- Unlike other coaching or consulting organizations, we do not cold call or camp out at networking meetings. Mid-sized company owners do not attend networking meetings, so there’s no point attending.
Ongoing Marketing Process
-
- After the initial launch, the marketing process can “shift to a higher gear.” The initial launch is a lot of work and it gets easier after it’s over. Through the partner channel, small local education events, and web-based events, your membership can grow without the need for large public seminars.
- There is no cold calling in our ongoing marketing system. We believe that the group leader should be viewed as a high-powered business leader. High-powered leaders don’t make cold calls, it’s incongruent, so we have other ways to generate new prospect leads that don’t involve you bashing your face against the wall.
